Mobile Home Live Fire Exercise

STUBBORN HOUSE TRAILER FIRES ARE NO MATCH FOR CAFS

The following scenario took place during a live burn training exercise in Central IL. The  mobile home was fully intact with many of the cabinets and contents inside. The department opted to remove the windward end of the mobile home with a backhoe to allow video taping of the fire behavior.

The mobile home unit was allowed to progress to full involvement with no entry. The only point of application of the CAFS firestream took place at the front door. The door was located towards the front one-third of the trailer. Application was directed at the ceiling to demonstrate that properly applied the CAFS stream could cool the entire contents of the mobile home - enough to effect knockdown in less than 25 seconds!
